Laurel Cottage
circa 1830
Colonial accommodation in a convict built Georgian Village

The handmade convict bricks and lime mortar of Laurel Cottage have changed little since laid in 1830. When you step through the front door it feels like you're entering another age. The furniture has been chosen to faithfully represent the colonial era and there's a wood fire when you need it. Just to ensure your comfort in any season, there's now also electric heating, TV and radio and all the other modern comforts.

When you enjoy a stroll among the lanes in this historic village,  you can admire the Georgian cottages, the churches and the oldest  bridge in Australia. You can feed the ducks on the river next door to the cottage, and explore the galleries and antique shops within a few hundred metres. Several Tea rooms and restaurants in the town and surrounding area provide a great selection of local produce, and the restaurants of Hobart, and the famous Saturday Salamanca Market are an easy half hour drive away. When you return to the privacy and comfort of Laurel Cottage, you have your own garden to explore..
